Ribble Valley venue determined to continue to offer world-class entertainment to help wellbeing
Clitheroe entrepreneur Peter Barton is ensuring that music and comedy fans will continue to have the opportunity to enjoy safe, top class entertainment across the Ribble Valley and beyond during the pandemic.
Peter’s venue, Barnoldswick Music & Arts Centre, have just announced rescheduled dates for performances in 2021 as well as remaining dates for this year, which include ‘Lucky Stars’ hit-maker Dean Friedman, Punk legends Angelic Upstarts, , Judie Tzuke (‘Stay With Me Til Dawn’ ) , Australia’s Carus Thompson, Kiki Dee & Carmello Luggeri , Peter Knight's Gigspanner and Status Quo’s John ‘Rhino’ Edwards and more. January’s show with the Stax/Otis Redding/Blues Brothers legend Steve Cropper Sold Out within two days!
The Rainhall Road venue also continues to host a whole array of rising artists, too – across all genres; Folk, Acoustic, Country, Alternative and more.
“I am determined that the people of our corner of Lancashire and beyond still have the chance to experience ‘live’ entertainment through these unprecedented times”, said Blackburn-born Peter. “It is so important for everyone’s well-being that they can relax in a safe environment and enjoy some fabulous music”.
Several of the just-announced shows are to benefit ‘Concerts For The Kids’ a charity set up in 2017 by Peter and his wife Julie to benefit Alder Hey Childrens’ Hospital where Peter and Julie’s grandson received life-saving treatment. They are both determined never to cease in their efforts to raise funds for the hospital. “ As long as fans continue to attend the ‘live’ fund-raising events, Julie and I will continue to purchase life-saving and life-changing equipment for Alder Hey” said Peter.
Countless international artists, including Jay and Merrill of The Osmonds, Big Country, From The Jam (with Bruce Foxton of The Jam) and comedian Phil Cool have all given their services free in the past. Now, artists such as the ever-popular Lancashire Blues, Boogie & Soul band, The Stumble, Alvin Youngblood Hart (most recently seen on Later…With Jools Holland), Punk icons The Skids, Dr. Feelgood, Prog-Blues masters The Groundhogs, Stax/Blues Brothers icon Steve Cropper, Animals And Friends (with founder members of The Animals, John Steel and Micky Gallagher) and Nine Below Zero will also be performing at the venue to benefit the charity.
This side of 2021, however, BMAC is also relaunching ‘The LaughingGas Comedy Club’ with a performance from Tom Wrigglesworth. Patron of the Comedy Club is legendary Lancashire funny man, Phil Cool.

Peter Barton has toured the World is well known in the music industry as not only a music agent who has brought a dazzling array of international music artists to the area – as well as across the UK – for many years, he is also known as the singer and bassist with Animals And Friends (featuring original Animals John Steel and Micky Gallagher) for over two decades. In addition, he has also fronted another band with The Boomtown Rats’ Garry Roberts and Simon Crowe, performing all the Rats greatest songs, prior to the eventual re-forming of The Boomtown Rats with Bob Geldof. Peter has performed or recorded alongside an endless list of legendary musicians as well , such as Steve Cropper (Otis Redding, The Blues Brothers), Spencer Davis, Mick Green (The Pirates, Paul McCartney, Bryan Ferry, Van Morrison), Clive Bunker (Jethro Tull), Rick Wakeman (Yes), Eric Bell (Thin Lizzy) and Wayne Fontana (The Mindbenders)
Peter also plans to re-launch his record label, Organic Mountain, with several releases already lined-up.
